John joined the Swiss Re Institute as Chief Economist Asia in December 2021. He is based in Hong Kong.
Before joining Swiss Re, John was the Senior Global Economist at Haitong International Securities. He has worked on both the buy-side and sell-side in London and Hong Kong with HSBC, Legal & General and Pimco.
John was also previously a central banker with the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, which included a secondment as a Visiting Economist at the Bank for International Settlements.
John read economics at the University of Cambridge and completed a Masters at the London School of Economics in 2007, after which he worked as a financial journalist during the Global Financial Crisis.
