Oliver is an environmental & business economist and sustainability expert with over 20 years of experience in research, consulting, and cross-functional team leadership. 

He is responsible to integrate the biodiversity topic into financial services and transition commercially relevant research in the natural assets and ESG area. In his previous roles at Swiss Re, he co-lead the Issue Management process, was responsible for the top topics food security and renewable energy out of Group Communications, partnered up with selected scientific partners and other stakeholders, and contributed to the foundations of Swiss Re Institute. 

On behalf of Swiss Re Corporate Solutions, Oliver was the counterpart for the collaborative project on Financing Resilient Energy Infrastructures, together with the World Energy Council, Marsh McLennan, and the EBRD. Oliver is among the authors of many well quoted Swiss Re publications, for example on the BES Index®, but also others, like 'Mind the Risk', a study which has assessed the natural catastrophe exposure for more than 600 large urban areas; 'Beeline for disaster', a short literature review on the cost of pollinators decline; or more recently on Spatial Finance, together with the WWF and Group Sustainability Risk Management. Oliver is part of Swiss Re's SONAR network (Systematic Observation of Notions Associated with Risk) and regularly contributes to the strategy and implementation work of our sustainability units.

Oliver studied economics in Germany and the USA and holds a PhD in environmental sciences from Zurich University.
